About

Gordon Chen, MD is the CEO of ThriveWell. ThriveWell brings the best of longevity medicine to older adults across America and helps them add more purposeful and healthy years through a transformative approach that emphasizes the 5 Drivers of Health, Wellness, and Longevity.

As a Board Member and former Chief Medical Officer of ChenMed, Dr. Chen discovered that the secret to health, wellness, and longer lives was determined by where people lived, what they ate, how much they laughed and moved around, and whether they connected to something bigger than themselves. He created a world-class leadership development culture that empowered doctors to influence and coach patients to better health through a full-risk, preventive, outcomes-based approach. Together with his family, Dr. Chen grew the practice into a multi-state enterprise and helped patients live, on average, five to seven years longer in communities across America.

Dr. Chen is also the co-author of The Calling: A Memoir of Family, Faith, and the Future of Healthcare. The book describes Dr. Chen’s beautiful vision for how people can deliver health, wellness, and longevity to adults as they age through trusting, accountable relationships and proactive and cutting-edge transformative care.

Dr. Chen holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Brown University as part of Brown’s Program of Liberal Medical Education. He accepted a scholarship and returned home to South Florida to attend the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and remained in Miami for his internal medicine and cardiology training. Dr. Chen supports Nicaragua Charities, a Christian non-profit organization that strives to create medical mission opportunities to meet the needs of multiple underserved Nicaraguan communities, and Youth Impact Center (YIC), a community program that strives to help at-risk youth reach their full academic, athletic, and life potential. He is married to his medical school sweetheart, Dr. Jessica Chen, ThriveWell’s Chief Health and Wellness Officer and the former Chief Clinical Officer of ChenMed. They have four children.
